Passion Fruit

 

Passion Fruit (Maracuya ):

It is round to oval, yellow or dark purple at maturity. With very juicy and firm interior filled with numerous seeds. it is often added to other fruit juices to enhance aroma. Passion fruit is often used in desert or to flavor soft drinks. Its juice is essential ingredient in many cocktails, and one of the most common one is hurricane (a very sweet alcoholic drink made from lime juice, passion fruit syrup and rum). Try its seductive, sweet-tart flavor and smell its tropical fragance. It is a typical tropical delicacy.

Guava:

Has pear shape with yellow at maturity in some species, to red in others, with creamy white or orange- salmon flesh and with many small hard seeds. It contains a strong, distinguish aroma hard to describe, but in general, reminiscent of refreshing fruits like apple, passion fruit or strawberries. It is often considered to be a “Super Fruit”, because of its consistency of high levels of vitamins A, B and C. A single guava contains five times more vitamin C than an orange. It is often prepared in a variety of ways as a dessert.

Mango:

As a national fruit  in many cultures of South Asia is also known as “Food of Gods” in the Hindu Vedas religion. The ripe mango is variably colored yellow, orange or red. It has a distinctive slightly sweet unique taste. It is very juicy and its sweet taste and high content of water make this fruit very refreshing to eat. As an excellent source of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, it is often used to make juices, in ice-creams, in pies, or blended with milk and ice to make milkshakes.

Pineapple Guava ( Feijoa)

Is green, ellipsoid shaped and the size of chicken egg. It has sweet, aromatic flavor. Its inside flesh is very juicy which is divided into a clear jelly seed pulp and a firmer flesh nearer to the skin. It makes an interesting addiction to a fruit smoothie. It is commonly used to make feijoa wine and feijoa  infused vodka.

Banana Passion Fruit  

Banana Passion Fruit(Curuba):

Is like straight small banana with rounded ends. As it matures it turns yellow. The pulp inside is dark range in color with small dark seeds. It is very aromatic and nutritious. Its aroma is somewhat reminding of apple, orange and cucumber. It is commonly used in creams, fruit sauces or drinks.

Soursop ( guanabana)

Is a broadleaf flowering evergreen tree native to the Caribbean, Central and South America. Its flavor ranges from strawberries and pineapple which are mixed together with some sour citrus flavor notes with an underlying creamy roundness of flavor, reminiscent of coconut or banana. Its flesh is white pulp with black seeds. It is high in carbohydrates, particularly in fructose. It also contains a significant amount of vitamin C, B1 and B2.

Quito-Orange (Lulo)

As a highly appealing member of the nightshade family “Solanaceae”, the Quito –Orange retains its Spanish name Lulo meaning “Little Orange”, because it is rounded and is bright when fully ripe. As an authentic fruit of the Incas is also called Naranjilla or Lulum, Toronja.With its highly nutritious elements can be excellent ingredient to ice creams mix, and it has its place in many native dishes. But, its common use is in the form of juices. Sherbet can be made by mixing lulo juice with corn syrup, sugar water and a bit of lime juice partially freezing then beating to a froth and freezing again before  serving.

Papaya

Is spherical or pear shaped. Its flesh is a reach orange color with either yellow or pink hues. It contains papain, enzyme which helps digest proteins. With its delicious sweet tones and a soft butter like consistency it is not wonder called “Fruit of the Angels” by Christopher Columbus. It can be used in many different ways, as an addiction to different fruit juices, or as a host to many recipes. For an easy preparation of fruit juice, just simply blend papaya pulp with some strawberries and yogurt for a cold scup treat.
